On a beautiful sunny morning on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, with temperatures in the 60’s, Bethel Public School students started their first day of school and were welcomed back by school teachers and administrators, including Bethel Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christine Carver.
Smiles and hugs abounded. Friends were overjoyed to see one another again after the long summer. Students walked with lively steps and entered the schools. The high school lobby was jammed with students, all talking at once. Some of the younger pre-school students were a bit shy, but stood near the school building with Mom and/or Dad by their side, as they held signs proclaiming it was their first day of school. Some school Mascots there and young students posed to take pictures with them. Teachers and administrators shook students’ hands and welcomed them back.
We visited three of the five schools and found Bethel Superintendent of Schools Dr. Christine Carver at all of them. (We think she has a secret twin.) Dr. Carver said, “We’re so excited for the beginning of the school year. I wish all the students of the Bethel Public Schools well, and I know you’re going to do wonderfully.”
Bethel High School Principal Christopher Troetti had encouraging words for the students, and said, “I just want to wish the students of Bethel High School a wonderful year. Set goals and follow your passions. Good luck to you all.”
Anna H. Rockwell School Principal Trisha Soucy had an upbeat message, and said, “We’re gonna ROCK-WELL this year, which means, we’re gonna be respectful, on task, caring, and keeping safe. Why? Because hashtag we ROCK-WELL.” ( #weROCKWELL )
Danielle Legnard, Principal of Frank A. Berry Elementary School, gave an energetic message and said, “Good Morning everyone. We can’t wait for you to come back to school and ROAR. We hope you had a great summer and we’re going to read, write, do math together, we can’t wait for you to come back and have a great year. See you soon.”
Bethel Advocate welcomes students back for the school year 2015-2016 and wishes you continued success!
