“For someone to think they can so arrogantly hijack the mass psyche of Newtown, and paint this picture that Newtown is somehow totally incapable of handling the presence of a legal and concealed gun in a school, (or in Newtown, for that matter), is nothing short of hyper-emotional manipulation, ideological bullying, and fomented hysteria with an agenda. For the record, please realize that Jason Adams is not Adam Lanza, and no legal gun owner in Newtown is Adam Lanza,” said Donald Borsch.

OPINION: “A Gun Owner’s Response to a Legally Owned Gun in the Hands of a Teacher”

“Newtown teacher, Jason Adams, arrested for bringing concealed and legal gun onto school grounds. His court date is 20 April 2016, in Danbury.

“There are two main outcries regarding this issue.

“*One is that since this is Newtown, how could he be so callous and cruel as to bring a concealed and legal gun into the middle school?, which is an allusion to Adam Lanza.

“*Two is that concealed and legal guns in schools endanger the children, the staff, and the community, unless said gun(s) are possessed by police officers.

“Allow me to respond logically, here.

“1. For someone to think they can so arrogantly hijack the mass psyche of Newtown, and paint this picture that Newtown is somehow totally incapable of handling the presence of a legal and concealed gun in a school, (or in Newtown, for that matter), is nothing short of hyper-emotional manipulation, ideological bullying, and fomented hysteria with an agenda. For the record, please realize that Jason Adams is not Adam Lanza, and no legal gun owner in Newtown is Adam Lanza. The miniscule minority in Newtown, (Newtown Action Alliance, under the firm grip of self-appointed “gun expert” Po Murray), who have taken it upon themselves to champion all gun-control efforts for all the residents of Newtown, would have you believe all legal gun owners in Newtown are out to kill you. They surely are not.

“2. Jason Adams, to be allowed to have a Permit to Carry, was vetted by law enforcement, having proven himself to be qualified to legally possess a gun, which is an enumerated right in our State Constitution and Federal Constitution. Newtown Action Alliance would have you believe that the mere presence of a gun endangers all within 100 feet of said gun. Yet Jason Adams has been entrusted by the State to legally carry said gun on his person, as have all of the Permit holders in CT. When trouble strikes, the local police are summoned to handle the situation as best as they can. The police carry and have guns at their disposal to do so. I find it extremely contrarian to vilify a private citizen, who has proven their worthiness, for carrying a legal gun while at the same time praising the police for carrying guns. The argument goes that “guns kill”, which removes the heart and character of the person possessing the gun. Knowing that a gun is merely an inanimate object, made from steel and polymer, I am more concerned with the gun-carriers heart and mind and character, because it is the person who is the killer, not the gun.

“Jason Adams will be torn to shreds by the hoplophobic camp of gun-haters, and then displayed for all to see as some sort of trophy against gun ownership.

“And for what, exactly?

“No children were at risk of harm, according to the local police. Jason showed himself to be no threat to them. His legal and concealed gun was seen by someone, (no word as to who this someone was), and then he was detained and arrested for violating CT statute against gun possession on school grounds. THAT was his crime. Nothing more. The shame here is that of all the schools in America that should realize that legal guns actually make kids safer in schools, it should be Newtown. Because we all have seen, first-hand, what happens when there are not legal guns in schools.”
