More Extreme Cold Weather and Snow Coming to Bethel This Week

The National Weather Service reports:

Conditions will remain very cold tonight as arctic high pressure
builds to the north. Lows will range from the single digits above
zero in the outlying areas, to the teens for much of Long Island
and the New York City metro area. Some isolated areas well inland
may dip just below zero. Wind chill values will be in the single
digits on either side of zero region-wide, with the coldest
values in the outlying areas. It will be mostly clear, but clouds
will be on the increase late tonight, mainly over southern
portions of Long Island and New York City.

High pressure will retreat into southeastern Canada on Monday as a
weak area of low pressure approaches from the Great Lakes region.
However, Monday will remain dry with clouds continuing to lower
and thicken. Highs will remain cold, ranging from the lower 20s to
around 30.

Low pressure will weaken as it moves east toward the tri-state
Monday night into Tuesday morning, with the chances for
precipitation increasing through the day Tuesday. It will be cold
enough for the precipitation to be in the form of light snow
everywhere. The light snow is expected to continue into Tuesday
night.
