Local Bethel Business Owner Takes Action, Recommends Election Candidates in Large Display Ad

The display ad shown above was placed as a half-page ad in a paper publication of a local news media, by a concerned Bethel Clarke Business Park property and business owner, Mitch Gross of GHM Garage of CT.

He wants to convey the importance of who you will decide to vote for in the upcoming election regarding the Planning & Zoning Commission candidates.  How Commissioners chose to vote on the crematorium issue is important and directly related to the future zoning issues Bethel. “Your vote is very important to the future of Bethel” the ad reads.

Gross is concerned about zoning boards because he is a newer property owner in Clarke Business Park and purchased his property in early 2015, but was not told about the proposed crematorium beforehand.  (The crematorium issue had been going on for over a year by then.)

Gross became very involved in the P&Z crematorium hearings and it’s now important to him that Commissioners who voted FOR the crematorium (to approve crematorium applications) are not reelected, and Commissioners who voted against the crematorium (to deny crematorium applications) are reelected.  If people agree with him, then these are the candidates to vote for.  It’s about what kind of Bethel people want.

Gross’ ad states, “Crematoriums emit noxious odors, dangerous pollutants such as dioxins, furans, arsenic and mercury, as well as black smoke.  Crematoriums are dangerous to your health, are a serious fire hazard, and ultimately will reduce property values in Bethel as far away as 3 miles from the facility.  Bethel needs a Planning and Zoning Commission that will keep crematoriums out of our town.”

“BETHEL VOTERS!  Help elect a Planning & Zoning Commission that will preserve Bethel’s environment, property values, and protect against crematoriums,” the ad reads.

Gross recommends the following candidates for P&Z Commissioners: Don Brown (D), Earle Finch (I, endorsed by R), Sandi Forman (D), Marc Fierz (I, endorsed by R), Rich Tibbitts (D), Rob Schweitzer (D).  P&Z alternates: Lou Valenti (D), Kenneth Parsons (R), James Naddeo (D).
