January is National Blood Donor Month, Senator Michael McLachlan Encourages Blood Donation

January 18, 2017

State Senator Michael McLachlan (R-24) today encouraged individuals who are able to donate blood.

“January is National Blood Donor Month, but the need for donations is constant,” Sen. McLachlan said. “Donating blood is a simple act with the power to save lives. It could even save the life of someone you love.”

Because blood can be divided into different components, the American Red Cross says one blood donation can help multiple patients.

“Locations throughout the 24th District are hosting blood drives this month and I hope those who meet the donor requirements will take the time to attend one,” Sen. McLachlan said.

To learn more about blood donation requirements, make an appointment, or find a blood drive, visit the Red Cross website at www.redcross.org. Below is a list of local blood drives during January.
