‘Give Where You Live!’ Support Your Local Charities on Fairfield ‘Giving Day’ Today

24 HOURS TO GIVE WHERE YOU LIVE 

Fairfield County’s Giving Day is a powerful 24-hour online fundraising competition that unites our community around local causes close to your heart. Last year, this amazing day of giving had extraordinary results: $1,066,091 donated by 13,161 individuals for 386 nonprofits, all serving Fairfield County!

Get Ready to Give to all your favorite local charities….

(The charities listed below are members of the Bethel Chamber)

Specifically, Bethel Arts is working with a variety of local artists to adorn Bethel’s downtown with a large scale outdoor sculpture exhibit. Bethel Arts is 1/3 of the way to their goal of implementing a one year art project. The exhibit will last one year and will run from the spring of 2016 to the spring of 2017. Bethel Arts needs our community to come together. Our goal is to enhance community participation in the public art process through engagement of the public. Please consider supporting our efforts.
  Funds raised from Giving Day will be utilized toward our 21st annual (and beyond) historical tours attended each year by all of the second grade students in Bethel, to build the archival collection so that the museum is a constantly growing representation of the history of Bethel, and to complete the renovation of the Great Hall in the historic 1842 Second Meeting House, which we call home – a building that was the town hall for seventy years, the gathering-place of all community groups of the era, and truly the heart of Bethel’s history.
 Donations will support CT Choral Society’s spring concert ‘O FORTUNA-A Celebration of Hope and Joy’ to be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 in Bethel CT. Most notably featuring Carl Orff’s masterwork CARMINA BURANA, the music to be performed responds to a world in crisis, reflecting on the past, honoring the present, and providing hope for the future.The celebration will honor our patriotic heritage, display empathy for a world with great humanitarian challenges, and offer an opportunity to celebrate the goodwill of humankind.
Giving Day proceeds will help fund the Ives mission to support programs such as Project Outreach, serving local social service agencies by distributing complimentary tickets to disabled and multicultural inner-city residents, bringing exposure of the arts to underserved populations. Funding will also support the launch of a Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show, providing expanded awareness of the arts and opportunities for artists while enriching the cultural, educational and economic vitality of the region.
Giving Day funds directly benefit the dogs and cats in our care. We use the money for program expenses to feed, house, and heal over 500 abused and abandoned animals each year. Every dollar contributes to a “happy tail” for both the animal who finds his forever home and the person who adopts him. Thank YOU!
* Encourage livable communities through the Accessible Art Project, which coordinates more than 25 exhibits inside eight private and public venues. * Re-grant state dollars to support arts-based projects in senior centers, libraries, and other institutions in our backyard. * Promote thousands of art-related activities through ArtsWesternct.org News and Events. * Advocate for the arts to help secure funding and to integrate the arts in strategic plans on the local, state, and national levels. * Provide opportunities for first rate exhibitions, meetings, workshops and networking opportunities at @287 Gallery and Meeting Place.
Your donations will be used to fund as many of the following as possible: a digital information board to showcase works of the Library’s artist of the month and other library and local events, Makerspace supplies for 3-D printing and other craft and maker activities, collection development to complete our Academy Award Winners DVD collection, a PA system, a building directory, programs for people of all ages to support the Library’s Long Range Plan, large format scanner for digitizing our Local History collection and additional technology development.
Our goal is to promote wellness and provide compassionate, skilled health care to our patients in their homes and the funds raised help us to do that.
Funds will be used to make sure all Fairfield residents have access to hospice care, regardless of their ability to pay, and to our bereavement support services which are provided at no cost.
 Giving Day donations will support the United Way of Western Connecticut (UWWC) Financial Resource Center. 1 in 4 Connecticut households have earnings above the Federal Poverty Level but below a basic cost-of-living threshold. UWWC is particularly focused on this population, identified as ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), in our communities. The Financial Resource Center helps individuals and families become self-sufficient and achieve financial independence. Leveraging the power of the community, the Financial Resource Center engages skilled and trained community volunteers to facilitate financial literacy workshops and provide one-on-one financial coaching. With the generous support of skilled volunteers and funders, this free and confidential program, open to residents ages 18 and older, teaches fundamental financial literacy skills, links residents to existing financial services, and empowers individuals and families toward financial capability and stability.
Funds raised on Giving Day will help to provide FREE and confidential services to over 26,000 women, men and children through our Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Resource Services programs, as well as our comprehensive community education, training and primary prevention programs.

When you donate to the Regional YMCA of Western CT, you strengthen your community through programs focused on: Youth Development: All kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve, under the guidance of caring adults who believe in their potential. We see every interaction with young people as an opportunity for learning and development – all grounded in the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Healthy Living: We help kids, adults, families and seniors from all walks of life to build and maintain healthy habits for spirit, mind and body in their everyday lives. By helping people to improve their health and well-being, we build a stronger community. Social Responsibility: With our doors open to all, we bring together people from all backgrounds, and support those who need us most. We take on the most urgent needs in our community and inspire a spirit of service in return.
