Forecast of  High Heat and Humidity in Bethel: School Classrooms Are Being Carefully Monitored to Ensure Safety of Students

Message from Dr. Christine Carver, Superintendent of Bethel Public Schools, about high temperatures expected this week:

“Each fall we experience short periods of heat and humidity, making us all uncomfortable and concerned about the heat. When these conditions occur, I am aware of conditions in the non-air-conditioned portions of our school buildings and the potential health impact it may have on students and staff. I remain in contact with all of our principals and Mr. Germinaro, our Director of Facility & Security Operations, to monitor conditions in our classrooms and to discuss options for those in our warmest spaces, we are able to cycle classes to cooler and more comfortable spaces, we are able to us use fans, reduce physical activity, and increase hydration for our students and staff.

“Currently, I do not anticipate an early dismissal due to the forecasted heat, and I remind everyone to bring hydration to school and to limit physical activity.”

Sincerely,
