The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA) has developed a new Regional Initiative Small Grant program (REGI) in partnership with its nine Designated Regional Service Organizations, of which the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut is one, for applicants implementing small projects that support access to the creative experience and that experiment with new ways to apply the arts within community. This grant program was created by COA to invest in arts-based cultural projects, activities and infrastructure in ways that will advance the attractiveness and competitiveness of Connecticut cities, towns, and villages as meaningful communities in which to live, work, learn and play.
On Thursday, June 11th, 1:00pm to 3:00pm, the Cultural Alliance will host a second information session about this localized support for small arts-based projects, focusing on an in-depth review of the grant application requirements, at its @287 Gallery & Meeting Place, 287 Main Street, Danbury. The Cultural Alliance will be administering the REGI program in support of its ten-town service base: Danbury, Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, and Sherman.”The Regional Initiative Small Grant program provides a unique opportunity for our highly regarded, but often underappreciated arts communities to see and experience the arts happening on their neighborhood doorsteps within a broader, and much needed, context,” says Lisa Scails, Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance.
Grant projects can take varied forms: e.g., engaging in a specific community matter, reflecting on personal experience, or bringing neighbors together. Eligible applicants, who are encouraged to attend this information session include: artists; arts organizations with 501(c)(3) status and an annual operating income under $300,000; arts programs of a 501(c)(3) non-arts organization; municipal arts departments; pre-K through 12 schools; and Parent Teacher Organizations. The deadline to submit an application is Thursday, July 23rd.
The June 11th REGI information session is FREE, but seating is limited.
