Danbury Music Centre Hosting Auditions for the Danbury Community Orchestra, September 7th
The Danbury Music Centre will host auditions for the Danbury Community Orchestra on the evening of Wednesday, September 7. Musicians who play orchestral instruments are invited to audition for this orchestra which rehearses every Wednesday, 7-9 pm. To schedule an audition, please call the Danbury Music Centre at (203) 748-1716 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
This season the Danbury Community Orchestra will be featured on 3 concerts, all at the VPAC on Western Connecticut State University’s Westside Campus. The first concert will be Sunday, December 4th at 7 pm, the second concert will be Sunday, February 26th at 3 pm, and the third concert will be Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 pm.
Executive Director Mary E. Larew said, “The Danbury Community Orchestra is a wonderful ensemble that we are so fortunate to have in our city. Teens and adults rehearse side-by-side, tackling ambitious and artistically satisfying repertoire together. We are so fortunate to have the tremendously accomplished and gracious maestro Stephen Michael Smith as our conductor. Any musician considering auditioning for this orchestra absolutely should. Don’t miss this opportunity to join!”
Another unique feature of the Danbury Community Orchestra is the presence of a professional “ConcertMentor” – a violinist who coaches the string players to become more skillful as an ensemble. This year, violinist Lori Abbott will return to the position, which is generously supported by funding from Savings Bank of Danbury.
