Kyle Seitz, 36, whose son Benjamin Seitz, age 15 months old, died in a hot car July 7, 2014, was charged with criminally negligent homicide on Tuesday, Nov. 11, as a result of leaving his son unattended in a vehicle for an extended time, causing the death. Upon learning of the charges and a warrant for his arrest, Seitz turned himself in to Ridgefield Police headquarters at 4:00 p.m. today, according to Ridgefield Police.

The release of Seitz was on a written promise that he appear in Danbury Superior Court tomorrow, Nov. 12, at 10:00 a.m..

The toddler, Benjamin Seitz, age 15 months old, died in the father’s car after he was supposed to drop him off at daycare before work, but instead went to his office at Owl Computing Technologies at 38A Grove St. in Ridgefield, leaving the child unattended in the car, according to a statement by Ridgefield Police Captain Jeff Kreitz last July.

An undetermined amount of time passed before the father realized the toddler was in the car at the end of the workday, where temperatures reached 88 degrees that day. The boy was found unresponsive and Seitz immediately took him to Danbury Hospital where the toddler was pronounced dead.

Lindsey Rogers-Seitz, the boy’s mother, said she forgives her husband, according to WFSB.

She has started a website promoting laws to prevent similar tragedies and for new car safety regulations. See website here.
