CT Weather: Flash Flooding, Heavy Rain Tapering Off, Areas of Fog, Thunderstorms Possible

NBC Connecticut meteorologists have issued a First Alert for two rounds of thunderstorms today and Wednesday and flash flood warnings have been issued for Fairfield and New Haven counties. Expect periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Localized flash flooding is possible. An isolated severe thunderstorm is possible. Temperatures in the 50s around Hartford but near 70 along the shoreline, NBC CT reports. If you find that after these weather conditions have passed and it has damaged your roof and it needs repairing, you need to contact a roofing contractor as soon as possible. …THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM EDT FOR FAIRFIELD COUNTY…

At 513 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned
area. Up to four inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding
is already occurring.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Bridgeport, Stamford, Norwalk, Danbury, Milford, Shelton, New Canaan,
Newtown, Fairfield, Greenwich, Stratford, Trumbull, Westport,
Ridgefield and Darien.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.

The National Weather Service Weather Summary for the Local Tri-State Region
(419 PM EDT Tue Sep 25 2018):

A warm front will lift north of the region tonight with rain tapering off with a chance of showers. It will be warm and humid with some areas of fog across some interior sections. Lows will range from the middle 60s to around 70.

A cold front will approach from the west on Wednesday bringing a round of showers and thunderstorms. Any stronger thunderstorms may contain gusty winds. It will be continued warm and humid with high temperatures reaching the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Any showers and storms will end during the first half of Wednesday night. Drier and cooler air will result in improving conditions during late Wednesday night into Thursday. Temperatures on Thursday will return closer to normal for this time of year.
