The Connecticut Department of Transportation recently began two projects to replace failing bridges in our district. The Route 53 bridge over the Saugatuck River will be restored in Redding, and the Route 7 SB bridge over I-84 WB and Beaver Brook will be rehabilitated in Danbury.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Just wanted to let you know that the Connecticut Department of Transportation recently began two projects to replace failing bridges in our district. The Route 53 bridge over the Saugatuck River will be restored in Redding, and the Route 7 SB bridge over I-84 WB and Beaver Brook will be rehabilitated in Danbury.

Route 53 | Redding

Minor safety improvements will also be made as the bridge’s abutments, deck and parapets are replaced.

Work is scheduled to be completed in September 2016. Until that time, please prepare for lane closures. Alternating one-way traffic on Route 53 will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. A detour will be implemented after July 1 for 42 days via Route 58 and 107.

Route 7 | Danbury

Nighttime closures and detours began yesterday to allow for repair work on substructures, abrasive blast cleaning, painting of steel beams, replacement of bearings, deck resurfacing, and minor safety improvemenst.

Work is scheduled to be completed in May 2016. Detours are taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 am. Shoulder closures begin at 7:00 p.m. Traffic is being rerouted from Route 7 southbound, to I-84 westbound, to Exit 6. I-84 eastbound can also be accessed at Exit 6.
