The nonprofit Friends of the Ives will present the first “Art at Ives, Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, 2016, at Ives Concert Park on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

The nonprofit Friends of the Ives will present the first Art at Ives, Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show” from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12, 2016, at Ives Concert Park on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

This two-day event will feature a wide variety of high-quality original works and a diverse scope of art forms representing every major category. Food and live music, along with art classes, demonstrations and children’s events also will be included. The event will be rain or shine.

The jurying and application system will be digital. Jurors will view the artists’ work and accompanying descriptions in a self-paced environment, taking the time needed to accurately evaluate each application.

Artists are invited to submit applications!  The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 1. The cost is $25 to apply. A program directory and the Ives website will showcase each artist’s work and provide artist contact information.

Ives Concert Park is the ideal location to host this event that seeks to advance the visual arts in Western Connecticut by providing increased visibility for artists. The long term goal of the Art at Ives Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show is to expand awareness of the arts and enrich the artistic, cultural, educational and economic vitality of the region for years to come.

The Ives’ lush oasis of natural beauty on Danbury’s west side hosts world-renowned artists in a wide variety of music and theater genres. The venue pays tribute to its storied roots in classical music while acknowledging the ongoing evolution of the art of live performance. With entertainment that ranges from enlightening to awe-inspiring, the Ives reflects the diverse multicultural community in which it resides; embracing the unique attributes that the artists and patrons bring to the site. A common love of the arts and the beauty of nature bring fans to the grounds. Shared experiences at the Ives create the fabric of our community.

Art at Ives – Juried Fine Art & Crafts Show 2016

Application Deadline: 4/1/16 Midnight EST

REQUIREMENTS:

Images: 6 (a booth shot is required)
Fee (Application Fee): $25.00
You can submit up to 2 applications for this show.

JURY DETAILS

General Information

GATES:   Open from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm

FEES:  Application Fee $25; Booth Fee $200/booth (maximum 2 booths);  The appliction fee is not refundable.

SET UP:   Friday, June 10, Noon – 6:30 pm and Saturday June 11, 6:00 am – 8:00 am.

AWARDS:  On Saturday, June 11, judges will select artists for awards, including 1st Place in each category and Best in Show.

RAFFLE:  Framed art or craft donations will be accepted at the Raffle Booth until 9:45 am Saturday, June 11.

BOOTH SHARING is not permitted.

VEHICLES AND PARKING:  Parking for one vehicle/artist will be provided at the artists’ parking lot adjacent to the Show.  Artists must be parked there by 8:00 am on days of show.

LARGE ART PURCHASES:  Golf cart transport to visitor lots is available for large art purchases.

DISMANTLING ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:  May begin at 5:15 pm unless it is deemed unsafe for pedestrians.  Vehicles will not be allowed on the lawn if it is wet–please bring hand carts for that eventuality.

SALES TAX:  All Artists are responsible for collecting and paying State of CT sales tax.

SECURITY:  Security will be provided throughout the show and overnight.  However, artists exhibit all work at their own risk and should carry appropriate insurance.  Friends of the Ives, Inc., Charles Ives Authority for the Performing Arts, City of Danbury and Western Connectiuct State University will not be responsible for damage, theft, or loss of any artist’s work or personal property or display.

MISCELLANEOUS:  If for any reason you are unable to attend the Show, as a courtesy to fellow artists and the Show, please notify us immediately by telephone.  If an emergency arises during the Show and it is necessary to leave, you must notify a Show offical before you dismantle.

MEDIA CATEGORIES:

Ceramics / Fine Crafts: All original work other than jewelry accepted in this category. No machine-made or mass produced work is permitted. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed, each piece must be signed.

Digital Art / Photography: This category includes any original work for which the original image or the manipulation of a source material is executed by the artist using a computer. Work in this category must be limited editions, signed and numbered on archival quality materials.  Photographic prints made from the artist’s original image (e.g., film or digital) which have been processed by the artist or under their direct supervision, are included in this category. Images printed through software such as Photoshop are to be entered in this category, not in mixed-media or digital. Each image must be signed and numbered with editions being inclusive of all sizes and not to exceed 250 prints in the edition.

Drawing: Works created using such dry media as chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencils and wax crayon or from the fluid medium of inks and washes applied by pen or brush are to be entered in this category.

Fiber: All work crafted from fibers including basketry, embroidery, weaving, leatherwork, tapestry, and paper making. No machine tooling, machine-screened patterns, or other forms of mass productions are permitted. No factory-produced wearable items, regardless of additional modifications or enhancements by the artist may be exhibited. Embellishment of commercially-made fiber items are not allowed (e.g., embellishment added to commercially made shoes or hats).

Glass: Original work created in glass by the artist. Pressed glass, massed production and embellishment of commercial glass products are not permitted.

Graphic & Printmaking: Print works for which the artist’s hand manipulated the plates, stones or screens, which have been signed and numbered as a limited edition may be entered in this category. Offset reproductions are not allowed. Print makers are required to disclose both their creative and print making process.

Wearable Art / Jewelry: All jewelry, whether the work is produced from metal, glass, clay, fiber, paper, plastic or other materials must be entered in this category. No commercial casts, molds, or production studio work allowed.

Metalwork: Includes all non-sculptural, non-jewelry works crafted from metal. No production studio work is allowed.

Mixed Media: This category includes works, both 2D and 3D, that incorporates more than one type of physical material in the production of the artwork. Includes non-sculptural work as determined by the artist. Jewelry is not considered mixed-media; jewelry must apply in the JEWELRY category. Photography is not considered mixed-media; photography must apply in the PHOTOGRAPHY category. If you have questions or need clarification, call and talk with us.

Painting: Works created using such materials as oils, acrylics and watercolor, are in this category. Reproductions are allowed; however, they must be signed and limited editions.

Sculpture: Three-dimensional original work done in any medium (e.g., bronze, stone, acrylic).

Wood: Original works that are hand-tooled, machine-worked, turned or carved are accepted in the wood category.

ARTIST AMENITIES:  Includes parking on the premises, easy load-in and load-out, complimentary Sunday Breakfast, booth sitting, goody bag, 10% off at participating restaurants and night security.

Rules/Regulations

♦  All work must be original, produced by the artist and signed.

♦  Limited editions must be appropriately numbered or identified as artist’s proof.

♦  Reproductions must be identified.

♦  Wearable art and fine crafts must be of original design and individually made.

♦  Artwork displayed should be a result of the artist category in which artists are applying.

♦  Artist must be present with their work at the event

♦  It is the Artist’s responsibility to identify the category for which they would like to be juried.  Please choose the category which best describes your work.  If you do not choose a category (medium) your application will not be processed. Artists may only show work in categories determined by the Jury.

♦  All Artist must check-in to receive their booth number.

♦  All Artist tent structures must be white and professional quality.

♦  Staking of tents is not allowed.

♦  Artists are responsible for delivery, safely erecting display, removal, storage and protection of their own displays, goods and materials.  Overnight storage is permitted on-site.

♦  Tables, electrical cords, and tents are not provided (2 chairs are included)

♦  Artists must display their work and staff their booth during all selling hours of the event.  Tents may not be dismantled during event operationg hours.

♦  Artists will not be admitted after check-in hours.  Refunds will not be given to late comers or no shows.

♦  Music may not be performed or broadcast from any artist booth.

♦  Please bring appropriate rain covers and ground coverings in case of rain.

♦  Any tent provided by the artist must be properly secured to ground in case of strong winds.

♦  Event is not responsible for loss of or damage to Artist’s property

Booth Information

♦  Booth Fee: $200.

♦  There are approximately 100 booths

♦  Each booth area is 12′ x 12′ and located on grass

♦  Tents and display equipment are the Artist’s responsibility and must be limited to the assigned space

♦  All materials must be kept within the booth area

♦  Electricity is not available but can be provided upon request for a fee

♦  Tent and table rentals are offered through our authorized supplier

♦  Materials and packaging must be stored out of sight and under tables

♦  Upon acceptance, Artists desiring corner or double spaces or that require electrical connection must specify and pay any applicalbe fees at the time payment is submitted.  Specific space requests will be assigned based on the date payment is received.  We will attempt to accomodate all reasonable requests

♦  Tables, electrical cords and tents are not provided by the event (2 chairs included)

♦  Battery-operated lights are permitted

♦  Smoking is not permitted

♦  No pets are allowed

♦  No alcoholic beverages are allowed to be brought into the park
