Breaking News: Man Named “Steve from Virginia” is Climbing Trump Tower, On 16th Floor, Police On Scene
UPDATE Aug 10, 6:37PM EDT:
NBC live video showed that as the climber appraoched the open window where police were waiting, police safely captured the climber through the open window. The stunt drew a crowd and reaction from people watching from the street, upon the capture of the climber, was “thunderous cheers” reports NBC.
A VIDEO was shown on NBC that is supposedly from the climber and said:
“I am an independent researcher seeking a private audience with you to discuss an important matter,” the long-haired young man says. “I guarantee that it is in your interest to honor this request.
“Believe me, if my purpose was not significant, I would not risk my life pursuing it,” he says, as if reading a script. The uploader who posted this video on YouTube is named “Leven Thumps,” which appears to be a reference to a series of children’s fantasy novels.
“The reason I climbed your tower was to get your attention,” the man says. “If I had sought this via conventional means, I would be much less likely to have success, because you are a busy man with many responsibilities.”

A man, approximately 20 years old, is climbing the Trump Tower on 56th Street and Madison Avenue, on the southeast corner, in Manhattan, New York City, NY, presently, a climb that began at about 3:40p.m. this afternoon. He is using suction cups and rope, and is wearing a backpack whose contents are unknown. NYPD and NYFD and EMS crews are on the scene in contact with the climber after they broke open a window on the 16th floor to try and talk the climber down. The climber eventually told police his name is Steve and he is from Virginia, and that he wanted Trump to see him, NBC reports.
Traffic on both corners on Madison Avenue and 5th Avenue is blocked and there are two inflatable devices set up directly beneath the climber in case the climber falls.
