Bethel’s Chairman of the Board of Education Larry Craybas Hit by Car Yesterday During the Holiday Festival

An accident occured during the 2015 Bethel Winterfest on Nov. 27, 2015, in front of the Gift Cottage at 154 Greenwood Avenue. Bethel Board of Education Chairman Larry Craybas was helping children on and off the horse-drawn wagon ride in front of his business during the holiday celebration.  He was struck by a car at 5 p.m. as he was talking to the driver of another car who had stopped.  Craybas was transported to the Danbury hospital and his injuries were minor.  He was released from the hospital the same evening.

We are thinking of Bethel’s Larry Craybas today and wishing him a speedy recovery!

Message from The Gift Cottage:

Being thankful has taken on a whole new meaning for our family…
Last night Larry was hit by a car while helping with the
horse and carriage rides…He is ok and extremely lucky..
nothing broken, no concussion and his hip and knee replacements are aligned. He will be very sore (his neck, tailbone and teeth were bothering him.) but he really had an angel with him.
Thank you to Maureen Burke and another woman in line (who was an EMT) who held his neck and spine until the ambulance got there. Thank you to the all the people who helped Dad…EMT, police, fire, ER Drs and nurses …grateful for them and their professions …you don’t REALLY realize the magnitude of what they do until they do it.
Thank you to all the people in line who were encouraging Larry and comforting our family…and then volunteered to bring our tent and items under the tent into the store…that truly is what living in a small town is all about….love and care and you all ROCK
heart emoticon

We are thankful for our family and friends …the support, love and comfort means everything!
We are thankful the woman wasn’t going faster than she was and that she stopped…have to look at the silver lining, because it could have been so much worse.
Again, thank you to everyone last night and for all the love, concern and prayers for Larry…they helped! XOXOXO
