Bethel Public Library Information About Important Changes to Interlibrary Loan Services
This summer the Connecticut State Library is implementing a major upgrade to ReQuest, the statewide library catalog. Due to this upgrade, the statewide catalog and automated interlibrary loan system will not be available after June 30, 2015.
During the statewide catalog’s downtime, Bethel patrons will be able to search and request materials directly from Bibliomation libraries, as always. Requests for materials from libraries outside of the Bibliomation system should be requested only through the Bethel Public Library. Patrons will not be able to place their own holds on non-Bibliomation libraries’ materials. Patrons are asked to contact the Bethel Library Reference Desk at 203-794-8756×4 or adult@bethellibrary.org to place requests.
It may take longer to process patrons’ requests; however, the Bethel Library staff will make every effort to locate and borrow materials on its patrons’ behalf through interlibrary loan. Requests will be sent directly to individual libraries and response time will depend on how quickly the lending library processes Bethel’s requests. All patrons will be notified on the status of their requests.
Patrons also may choose to visit other libraries and borrow directly from their collections. This is possible through the Connecticard system as long as patrons have valid library cards from their hometown libraries.
The Connecticut State Library is planning to make a new statewide catalog available in the Fall of 2015.
The staff of the Bethel Public Library thanks its patrons in advance for their patience and understanding, and will make every effort to secure requested materials for them.
