Bethel Police: Two D.U.I Arrests in Early Morning Hours of 1/1/18
Two DUI arrests occurred in Bethel in the early morning hours of 1/1/18.
Matthew Mistal, 32, white, of 40 Linda Lane, Bethel, CT, was arrested on 1/1/18 at 1:30 a.m. at 7 Greenwood Ave. at the Food Bag and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Risk of Injury to a Minor, Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Evading Responsibility MVA.
Officers were called to the Food Bag Gas Station, Greenwood Ave., for a report of a possible intoxicated driver who had fresh accident damage and blood on their vehicle. Upon arrival Officers met with the vehicle operator, Matthew Mistal, who stated he hit something on Payne Rd. (later determined to be a guardrail) but did not report it. The blood on the vehicle was determined to be his own.
Mistal was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Evading Responsibility in an accident, and Illegal Possession of a Controlled Substance. Mistal was also charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor after he notified Officers that he left his two young / minor children home alone while he went out to the Food Bag. Officers were able to locate the children and leave them in the care of a family member. Mistal was released on bond pending a Court date later this month.
Michael Chevalier, 24, white, of 143 Head of Meadow Road, Newtown, CT, was arrested on 1/1/18 at 3:30 a.m.on Benson Road, Bethel, CT, and charged with Driving Under the Influence.
Officers were called to a private residence on Benson Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival the resident advised Officers that an unknown male was passed out in a running car, parked in their driveway.
Officers spoke with operator , Michael Chevalier, who was subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence after Officers conducted field sobriety tests. Chevalier was released on bond pending a Court date later this month.
