Bethel Police Officer James Christos is Promoted to Sergeant, Oct. 21
On October 21, 2015 a small ceremony was held at Clifford J. Hurgin Municipal Center at 7:00 p.m. to promote Bethel Police Officer James Christos to Sergeant. The certificate was presented to Christos by Bethel Police Chief Jeffrey Finch. Many friends and family of Christos attended the ceremony as well as Bethel police personnel, including Police Commissioner Michael Duff.
Mrs. Christos, James’ wife, helped to pin on the new badge. Sgt. Christos knelt down on one knee so one of their three young sons could see the badge up close and also help.
Upon his promotion Christos said, “It’s a wonderful opportunity and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Christos has been with the Bethel Police Department for ten years. To receive the promotion, Christos said he had to pass a written test that took several hours and also a 30-minute oral test.
Mr. James Christos, Sgt. Christos’ father, said, “I am very very proud.” Mr. Christos mentioned that Sgt. Christos’ grandfather, the late Earl Thurman, was a Bethel’s Town Clerk for twelve years from 1961 to 1973.
Christos’ mother, Mrs. Vasco Christos, who was smiling wide, was asked how she felt about her son’s promotion and she said, “Oh my goodness, so very excited.”
