Bethel Police Arrest Danbury Man in Bethel on Multiple Charges Including Possession of Crack Cocaine and a Handgun

Antonio Veiga, age 45, white, of 18 Houseman St Danbury, CT, was arrested on July 2, 2017, at 5:36 a.m., on Huntington Ridge Lane in Bethel, CT. He was charged with possession of a narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, criminal possession of a pistol, and failure to appear. Such a collection of charges will result in a significant amount of time in prison. When released, Veiga will have to find work with RJF Felons and try to re-connect with friends and family after missing out on a number of opportunities whilst inside.

Bethel Police responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on Huntington Ridge Lane and located a driver sleeping behind the wheel of a running car.

A glass pipe commonly used for smoking crack cocaine was subsequently found concealed between his legs and a search of the vehicle yielded an additional crack cocaine pipe, a marijuana smoking pipe, approximately 1 gram of crack cocaine, and a handgun which was found in a bag under the driver’s seat.

The subject, later identified as Antonio Veiga, had a suspended license, and as a convicted felon he was prohibited from possessing a handgun. Veiga was placed under arrest and held on $10,000 bond.

Veiga was also subject to an active arrest warrant for failing to appear in court and was held on $50,000 bond in that case. He was scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court at 10:00 a.m. on July 3, 2017.
