Bethel and Stony Hill Fire Departments responded to a house fire at 43 Castle Hill Drive in Bethel, CT, on the corner of Payne Road, on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.  Bethel Police and Bethel and Redding Paramedics also responded.

Bethel Fire Marshal and Emergency Management Director Tom Galliford and Bethel Deputy Fire Marshall Mike Connors were on the scene investigating the cause of the fire.  Galliford said a 911 call was received from the home owner and “an off-duty fire fighter arrived and pulled him out,”  who was the first responder on the scene.  The home appeared to have significant damage.  Numerous windows were broken, there was blackened exterior especially over the windows and on the interior, and furniture with fire damage was on the front lawn.  The cause of the fire is not known at this point.

John Bertanza, from J.P. Maguire Associates, an insurance company, was there to secure the home because the home owner was no longer present.
