Due to downed power lines on Walnut Hill Road from last night’s storm, the memorial service taking place to honor Don R. Machir tonight, previously to take place at 156 Walnut Hill Road in Bethel Ct. has been moved to Grace Family Church, 174 Mt. Pleasant Road, Newtown, Ct.
Donald R. Machir was the former Chief Financial Officer (CEO) of Leggette, Brashears and Graham in Shelton, CT. Machir was also member of Walnut Hill Community Church for 20 years, serving in various ministry positions. Read full obituary below

Donald R. Machir
Donald Ray Machir, age 60, passed peacefully to heaven with his family by his side at Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut in Danbury, CT on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. He was the husband of Cynthia (Glaze) Machir of Brookfield, CT.
Don was born June 20, 1955 in Point Pleasant, WV, to the late Charles and Leona (Rickard) Machir. He was a graduate of Wahama High School, Class of 1973, and a 1977 graduate of Salem College in West Virginia. Donald worked as a certified public accountant for various firms and companies before becoming the Chief Financial Officer of Leggette, Brashears and Graham in Shelton, CT, where he worked for the past 20 years.
A member of Walnut Hill Community Church, Don served in various ministry positions over the past 20 years.
In addition to his wife of 34 years, Don is survived by two his sons: Darrell C. Machir (Hayley Ball) of Jacksonville, FL and Curtis R. Machir (Heather Phinney) of Manchester, CT, brothers Ed (Carol), Dave (Mary), Dale (Jenny), sister Chloris (Lu McQuaid), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will take place on Thursday, February 25th at 4:00pm at Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Rd, Bethel, CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Lodge, 132 W. 32nd St, New York, NY 10001 or Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, 30 Milestone Rd, Danbury, CT 06810.
